I have just visited the Pratt AAFB web site lots of history in that old AAFB.
I was at one time (1962-1965) stationed at Schilling AFB Kansas (Smoky Hill AAFB,Kansas during the 2nd World War.
On the south end of the flight line at Schilling at one time there were some old B-29 nose dock hangers they were still standing when I arrived at Schilling in 1962 and if my memory serves me correct the old nose dock hangers were later torn down in 1964.
Those old hangers were never used during the time when I was there.
Also one weekend I had the chance to drive down to Great Bend,Kansas and went to the old base that was located there I noted that a lot of the old buildings on the old base looked just like the same buildings that we had at Schilling AFB Kansas at the time.
Back then I was not aware of the bases at Pratt & Walker Kansas or I would have visited those old bases.
